This past week, we received a tremendous amount of support from Peterborough skateboarders and skatepark users of all ages and backgrounds. Your voice is loud and clear: we need a modern new skatepark that’s more accessible and more welcoming to a diverse skateboard community that’s growing bigger every day.
Thank you to everyone who visited this site and took the time to look around and see what we’re up to. Hopefully you saw how passionate and committed we are in working together on a really positive thing for Peterborough. In addition to our Instagram followers, we also invited members of City council to visit the site and familiarize themselves a bit more with who we are and why we care. We even got traffic from skaters in the Toronto area coming to lend support for another park for the Ontario scene. A few thoughtful locals wrote in with some encouraging words of support for our mission, which we really appreciate, and don’t miss a chance to share your perspective with the City of Peterborough on why skateboarding is important to you.
We also launched our Skatepark Survey and so far we’ve received 56 submissions. Way to go all! We’ve heard a lot of common themes in your feedback, and we’re starting to a get a better sense of the type of park we need to truly put Peterborough on the map. This survey is an important first step to building support for this project, and it will remain open for some time while we continue to collect your ideas and perspectives. We know there are way more of you out there, so if you know somebody who skates, bikes, or rides a scooter, let them know about this survey and encourage them to add their voice!
Let’s keep it going Peterborough. We realize this is a difficult time to celebrate the great strides we have been making, and it sucks that we can’t all get together just yet for a big sesh. So in the meantime, continue to follow us on Instagram and on this site, as we keep rolling and looking ahead at some new things coming down the pipe in the coming months.
Skate safe!
