BIG Skate Jams

events in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peterborough

Latest jam: January 2025 – Morrow Building

Concrete skateparks are great and all, but core memories in skateboarding come from making and skating your own wooden ramps in some garage somewhere. This is what made our January event with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peterborough so special – to share a random Sunday in the dead of winter with 20 kids inside the Morrow Building, introducing them to this wonderful and weird culture of ours.

Huge thanks to our friends at BBBS for bringing the kids, Canada Skateboard for supplying our program boards, and our awesome volunteer skaters who came out to support. Extra shout-out to local skater-owned business leader Coy Calver, wood wizard Graeme Maars, and the multi-talented photographer/ripper Matt Garvey who helped us fill out the day with sessions covering everything from the first push to the first drop-in.
