No time like the present to relaunch our website and let you all know that we’ve been hard at work behind-the-scenes with a ton of interesting new things brewing for 2023. Check out below for a few pieces of news to share as well as some progress updates from the past many year or so. As always, reach out if you want to get more involved with any of our volunteer opportunities or talk about sponsorship and community skate spaces.
- Back online!
If you’re reading this, then you already know our website is back after a bit of a hiatus. We had to migrate to a cheaper host and platform, and we’re glad to be back posting community updates and connecting with anyone interested in skateboarding in Peterborough. - A Board of boarders
In the past few months, we’ve taken a few more steps towards registering as a not-for-profit. Our grassroots approach has served us well these past few years, but once completed, our registration will enable us to access a new inventory of potential skate spaces in Peterborough, enhance our ability to fundraise independently, and should inspire further community partnership. If you’re interested in joining our Board, or want more information on our progress so far, contact us. - Focused group
Thank you to everyone who came out to the focus group last November with the consultants for the City of Peterborough. Your feedback and show of support further helps us advance the goal of more skate spaces in Peterborough. Your voice matters and we will continue to help it be heard. We will update you all with details about next steps as they become available. - Lindsay Skatepark
We’ve been working with the Boys and Girls Club Kawarthas at times throughout their new skatepark building process including helping them plan a Grand Opening. If you didn’t make the trek out there before winter came, do it! It’s such a fun park!. We are going to continue to work alongside BGC Kawarthas as they develop their community youth skate programming. It’s a good way for us to learn how to get things done here in Peterborough and make some friends along the way.
Keep sharing your voice.
There will continue to be new phases of public consultation as we continue to work with the City on a long-term strategy to improve skateboarding here. Stay connected with us and we’ll let you know of opportunities to help.
