We had an amazing summer skatepark launch yesterday! Delilah was a champ and progressed quickly to bombing this hill! @koty.kolter
Shoutout to @flavourfashion and crew for the skateboard donation and all the other prizes we were able to get to kids and skaters in the scene. Huge huge thanks to @66thieves and @dropinskateparks for giving away TONS of gear for the kids and supporting our local skate scene. Also @cityptbo for partnering with us to make this event possible and the East Peterborough Lions Club for throwing an awesome BBQ.
Days like these make magical memories for kids - it showcased how supportive, friendly and lively our skate scene is! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported it! And thank you for all the positivity - we’re still buzzing!

WANT MORE SKATE SPACES?
If you want to have a say in what these spaces look like - fill out the City’s survey BY MAY 8!!! Link in bio.
They are asking for resident input on the redevelopment of the Kawartha Heights park in the West End. EVERY voice counts in small surveys like these (link in bio)!
This is an amazing chance to add more skate spaces - filling out the ConnectPTBO surveys is the most powerful way you can ever vote to shape what parks and future skate spaces look like. It helps us advocate for even more with the city.
More skate spaces provide increased access to recreation and less travel for people across the city, especially youth who need safe places to play freely and less screen time.
Background:
The Bonnerworth skatepark expansion last year was the first time in over 20 years the City invested money into a new skate space. But it doesn’t stop there.
Our initial advocacy was motivated by the deteriorating state of the skatepark despite heavy use. We connected with the right city staff to start the convo, with city councillors, 2 different mayors, and used research-backed arguments thru numerous committees, consultations, meetings, focus/stakeholder groups, presentations, etc. we were able to see progress.
We successfully advocated for definitions of skate parks, spots and dots into the City’s Open Parks and Spaces 2023 study (including #s for square footage of skate spaces needed to me the need in PTBO). This study guides the City’s next decade + of park development and why “skateboard/scooter obstacles” is on new park re-development ConnectPTBO surveys - usually there are a couple each year.
But we STILL need your support to advocate for more of these spaces and are most effective with numbers and your vision in the comments - YOU adding your voice to back up our goal of more skate spaces and what they look like.
We will continue to advocate for these spaces as valuable and efficient uses of public spending all across Peterborough - we know (and see) there is a huge demand for this important community infrastructure city-wide.
We can’t complain tomorrow if we don’t take the opportunity to guide the city TODAY.

This skate jam is gonna be BIG!
Bloc your calendars off May 16, 2026 to celebrate our local skate community!
We are so appreciative of all the skaters, shops and companies that came before us here (and those still pushing the scene forward) - we couldn’t do this work and get more skate spaces without all the amazing people in this community backing us!
DM us if you want to be involved / have an idea how you can help out :)
