Shoutout to @flavourfashion and crew for the skateboard donation and all the other prizes we were able to get to kids and skaters in the scene. Huge huge thanks to @66thieves and @dropinskateparks for giving away TONS of gear for the kids and supporting our local skate scene. Also @cityptbo for partnering with us to make this event possible and the East Peterborough Lions Club for throwing an awesome BBQ.
Days like these make magical memories for kids - it showcased how supportive, friendly and lively our skate scene is! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported it! And thank you for all the positivity - we’re still buzzing!

This is Bonnerworth. Our park. Our washrooms. Our responsibility.
Someone trashed the facilities recently… broken fixtures, blocked toilets, total mess. This isn’t just disrespectful, it’s a waste of everyone’s tax dollars and puts summer washroom access at risk for all of us.
The skate community has fought hard to be seen as good stewards of this space. Don’t let a few bad actors undo that. If you see something, say something (if and when it’s safe to do so).
Bonnerworth belongs to all of us - let’s act like it. 🛹

It’s official!
The skatepark expansion OPENS for public use at 8:00am tomorrow (Wednesday July 3). The fences will be moved to give full access to the expanded skatepark from 8am to 11pm daily. Please continue to park/enter from the Bonnacord side while McDonnel entrance remains closed.
Over the summer months, work will continue adjacent the skatepark, as construction crews turn their attention to the BMX pump track. We are grateful that the City of Peterborough has made the new park accessible to us during this next phase, so please be safe and respectful of the ongoing construction.
Don’t worry, a big Grand Opening celebration is being planned for the fall (and we’re still waiting on lights). Until then, have fun learning all your new tricks, and please join us in keeping our new space clean and well-loved this summer.

COME CELEBRATE THE SKATEPARK! 🛹✨
Join the Peterborough Skateboard Coalition in partnership with @cityptbo to officially celebrate the summer launch of the newly expanded skatepark! Whether you’re here to skate, learn, watch the skills on display or grab a burger, everyone is welcome!
The Details:
📅 When: Saturday, May 16 | 10am – 4pm
📍 Where: Bonnerworth Park
🍔 Food: Lions Club BBQ (including drinks) starts at Noon. Funds being raised for new playground equipment at Kawartha Heights public school!#eastpeterboroughlionsclubofa-3
The Lineup:
🔥 10am – Noon: Free skate, try skateboarding for the first time - we have some boards but need your own helmet. Say Hi and ask about our summer camp with @cityptbo in July or the skatepark design (like the Liftlock-inspired ledge).
🛹 Noon – 1pm: Pointers from @coysschoolofskate (all skill levels).
🚀 1pm – 1:30pm: SKATE DEMO by the @66thieves Skate Team.
🏆 1:30pm – 4pm: Open Jam & Giveaways! Prizes for all skill levels.

LIGHTS!
The skatepark expansion is finally feeling complete - HUGE thanks to @cityptbo @ptborecreation for collaborating throughout the process and getting the lights turned on for the skatepark!
They are currently set on a timer to be on from 7pm-11pm - in keeping with the operating hours for Bonnerworth Skatepark for over 20 years (they will adapt to earlier sunsets late summer). The lights don’t turn on automatically - there is a button on the metal pedestal that becomes “active” after 7pm (lift up the newly unlocked panel and voila!).
Lights and shade shelter were not in the original plans - we had to advocate for these but @ptborecreation staff worked hard to listen and deliver an amazing upgrade to Bonnerworth Park. Skatepark design by @canadianrampcompany and skatepark construction by @dropinskateparks. Thanks for working with us through the process. The lighting is a massive improvement on the old park lights and important to have night skating in the heat of summer. The shade shelter was funded by a donation from @hydrooneofficial and supported by other park advocates (pump track and pickleball).

Thanks to everyone who came out to help today!! It was a great time. Big thanks to the City of Peterborough for the paint, @_slappy_happy_ for going the extra mile as usual, and all the people (not just skaters!) who have come before us and put their time and energy into making this park the great place it is. While we continue to push towards getting a new skatepark built, maintaining and improving the current park is important to this community and a great feeling to be a part of. Hope to see you all out there.
